Time Traveler on the Sun

There is a time difference on the surface of the sun! It's not the conventional leap you might think of when you hear 'time travel', but it fascinates nonetheless.

The sun's core is about 25% larger than the earth.

Time moves more slowly where gravity is strongest, this is a consequence of Einstein's theory of relativity.

So, if you could somehow stand on the surface of the sun without vanishing into thin air, your watch would tick slightly slower than it would on Earth, essentially sending you fractionally back in time.

Benjamin Franklin wasn't entirely wrong when he suggested that time is money.

It's gravity too! At least, this is what modern physics tells us.

Notably, this effect is incredibly miniature, barely detectable with current technology.

So, don't pack your bags for a sun vacation just yet!.
