The Mysterious Hum of Taos

In the small town of Taos, New Mexico, a low-frequency hum has been a constant source of annoyance and misery to some residents, while others don't hear it at all.

First reported in the early 1990s, the so-called 'Taos Hum' is described as a low-pitched sound, like a distant diesel engine idling or a low rumble of thunder.

However, extensive investigations by researchers, from cultural anthropologists to acoustic physicists, have failed to locate a consistent noise source that fits the description.

Hearing tests on the 'hum hearers' reveal no abnormalities, and even in silent chambers, some still report hearing the hum.

Various theories have spiraled around it, from secret military tests to UFOs, but the cause of the Taos Hum remains a mystery.

Curiously, similar hums have been reported in other locations worldwide, suggesting a phenomenon that we are yet to fully understand..
