The Infinite Power of Pi

Pi is one of the most important and fascinating numbers in mathematics.

It is an irrational number, which means it cannot be written as a simple fraction, and the decimal digits of Pi go on forever without any recurring sequences or patterns.

The symbol for Pi (π) was introduced by the Welsh mathematician William Jones in 1706.

However, the existence and usage of Pi can be traced back to the ancient Babylonians and Egyptians, who approximated Pi to be 3.125 and 3.1605 respectively, thousands of years ago.

Up until now, Pi has been computed to over 31 trillion decimals points, thanks to computer computation.

Despite its endless decimal digits, in most engineering cases, we often round up Pi to 3.14159.

So intrinsic is Pi to our understanding of the world around us, there is even a day dedicated to it - Pi Day, celebrated globally on March 14th, encompassing all walks of science and mathematics..
