The Human Library

Did you know there's a library where you can 'read' people instead of books? In The Human Library, begun in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2000, humans stand in as 'books,' offering audiences the opportunity to hear their unique stories.

You 'read' a human book by engaging in conversation with them.

The people who volunteer are often those subjected to stereotype or prejudice due to their life circumstances or experiences, from homelessness and unemployment to mental illness, or recovering from drug addiction.

The goal? To promote understanding, cultivate empathy, and challenge societal prejudices.

In the years since its inception, the concept has spread to over 70 countries.

A chance to learn directly from people's experiences—literal human emotion and insight shared straight from the 'book's' mouth.

This is what the Human Library offers.

A unique knowledge-exchange platform indeed..
