The Ever-Expanding Space!

Did you know that our universe is constantly expanding? This means that every second that passes, all galaxies are moving away from us.

The concept of an ever-expanding universe was proposed by Belgian astronomer Georges Lemaître in 1927.

His theory helped to explain Edwin Hubble's observations in 1929 that galaxies are indeed moving away from us in all directions.

This led to the development of the Big Bang theory, which postulates that the universe began as a hot and dense point nearly 13.8 billion years ago.

However, the universe's expansion is not akin to the spread of objects in available space.

Instead, it is the space itself that is expanding.

Interestingly, this expansion is also accelerating due to a mysterious force known as dark energy.

So, the universe we live in is not only expanding, but it is doing so at an increasingly faster rate each second!.
