The Mysterious Lives of Bees

Consider the fact that these industrious insects can recognize human faces.

Quite fascinating, right? According to a study published in the Journal of Experimental Biology, honeybees were trained to associate pictures of human faces with a sugary reward.

Over time, the bees could identify and remember the faces associated with the reward even without the promise of sugar.

Another surprising fact is that bees can understand the concept of 'zero.' In an experiment conducted by scientists in Australia and France, bees were not only able to show they understood the idea of less versus more, but they also grasped where zero fits on the scale.

When presented with a choice of flying toward an image with a few black dots or one with none, the bees chose the latter.
