Invisible Gold

Oceans are a vast and unexplored territory, full of untapped resources.

Among them, a surprising amount of gold.

It is estimated that Earth's oceans hold up to 20 million tons of gold submerged and not yet extracted.

However, the concentration of gold in seawater is extremely low, roughly 1 to 2 parts per billion.

In other words, each litre of seawater contains about 13 billionths of a gram of gold.

That's why we can't see the gold, but it's there.

To put it another way, you would need to process over 30 million pounds of seawater to collect one ounce of gold.

This makes extracting gold from the ocean not economically feasible with current technology.

So, next time you take a dip in the sea, you might not strike gold, but remember there's tiny bits of gold floating in all that water..
