Exploring Hidden Depths of the Ocean

Did you know that we have explored less of the ocean than we have of outer space? That's right, despite its proximity, over 80% of our ocean is unmapped, unobserved, and unexplored, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The ocean covers more than 70% of our planet's surface, with an average depth of about 2.3 miles, or roughly 12,080 feet.

Despite its vast size and crucial importance to life on Earth, much of it remains a mysterious, uncharted frontier.

The primary reason behind this is the immense challenges that the deep-sea environment presents: high pressures, extreme temperatures, and absolute darkness.

On the other hand, while only about 60% of the moon's surface has been mapped, locating and tracking distant celestial bodies such as stars and galaxies has been more feasible due to the advances in telescopic technology.

It proves the saying 'water is the last great frontier on Earth.'.
