Eternal Hiccups of Charles Osborne

Imagine having hiccups for just one day! Uncomfortable, isn't it? Now imagine having them for 68 years! Hard to believe, right? But such was the luck of an Iowa farmer named Charles Osborne.

In 1922, while attempting to weigh a hog for butchering, Osborne fell and started hiccuping.

No big deal, everyone hiccups, right? Yes, but not for 68 years!.

The hiccups didn't stop until 1990, a year before his death.

That's almost seven decades of hiccuping! At the height of his affliction, Osborne was hiccuping around 40 times per minute.

Over time, this rate decreased to twice per minute, but never completely stopped.

According to the Guinness World Records, Osborne hiccuped an estimated 430 million times in his lifetime.

Despite this, he managed a relatively normal life, even remarrying after his hiccups started..
