Caffeine in space:It's more than a cup of coffee

In the vast expanse of space, there is an interesting hint of familiarity present in the form of caffeine! Yes, it's not only people on Earth who benefit from the stimulating properties of caffeine; it has been discovered even in the far reaches of the cosmic realm.

Astronomers have found an organic molecule called glycolaldehyde in a star-forming region of space about 26,000 light years away from Earth.

This molecule is known to be a precursor to form ribose, a key component of RNA.

But what's even more interesting is that in 2016, astronomers also detected the presence of Caffeine and Ethanol (the intoxicating ingredient found in alcoholic beverages) in Comet Lovejoy, which was brightly visible from Earth.

So, the next time you’re sipping your coffee or enjoying a glass of wine, remember, it’s not just an Earthly delight, the ingredients exist in the universe far beyond..
